During the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture, France was the “Guest of Honour” at the 30th edition of the Doha International Book Fair, paying tribute to the age of enlightenment.

One of the oldest and largest international book fairs in the region, The Doha International Book Fair is held each year with the participation of countries from around the world.

Fairs

In early 2020, the Book Fair showcased France with a central booth offering visitors a detailed overview of French literature. Focusing on the Age of Enlightenment, the fair highlighted French culture through a recreation of the typical atmosphere of a French plaza, with emblematic cafés and bookshops.

There is an exciting programme of cultural events held alongside the main exhibition, including seminars, lectures, workshops and more. A rich programme was also presented at the French pavilion in collaboration with the French Embassy and Institut Français in Qatar, including talks and “the Night of Ideas”.
