1001 Inventions: Science from Muslim Civilisations was a new theatrical science show and educational programme launched at the Institute of Butantan in São Paulo during the Qatar-Brazil 2014 Year of Culture.

This engaging science show and educational programme introduced a world of science and inventions from the 7th century onwards that spread across three continents from Spain and southern Portugal to China and shaped life as we know it today.

The launch included a reception with speeches by the Minister of Qatar in Brazil, HE Mohamed Al Hayki and the Director of the Ministry of Culture Mr Faleh Al Hajri, as well as live Qatari music.

The “1001 Inventions: Science from Muslim Civilisations” Brazil schools programme provided a fascinating insight into the history of science, medicine and technology from the historical period known as the Golden Age of Muslim Civilisation.

Almost 2,000 Brazilian students and children visited the show during its two-month run, with educational packs for schools delivered with special training to teachers.
